ACCREDITED OFFICER COURSE FOR THE ACCESSING COMMUNICATIONS

Duration - 2 Days
Course Aim
To provide the knowledge and ability to perform the
role of an accredited officer for the accessing of communications
data taking into account all legislation, and guidance.
Outcomes
At the conclusion of the course the delegates should
be able to:
- Explain how the basic technology works with regard
to mobile and land line telephone communications
- Summarise how the internet and email system operates
- Identify the different sorts of data held by relevant
Communication Services Providers
- Analyse the contents of the ACPO manual of standards
with regards to best practice within their respective
organisations
- Explain under RIPA what communications data their
respective organisations are allowed to apply for
and at what level authority must be sought
- Evaluate the application process taking account
of Necessity, Proportionality and Collateral Intrusion.
- Recognise the necessary documentation and the required
contents for each document
- Outline the procedure for dealing with errors within
the application process
- Explain the disclosure implications with regards
to the applications process and data obtained
